The Beauty Myth - artwork created for my dissertation.

Illustrations based on the Beauty Myth by Naomi Wolf. I created three illustrations based on three chapters of her novel, each depicting different categories.

The image depicting the vultures using a magazine is for the chapter titled Culture, I decided to use culture vultures to symbolise our societal obsession with self-image and magazines.

The image portraying the horse represents Work, the mother horse is wearing a harness and feeding its foal. This is to represent modern women’s capability to manage work whilst also taking care of children.

The image depicting a wolf on weighing scales is based on the chapter Hunger. I wanted to portray the hunger of the wolf and link it back to another societal issue of resisting our basic natural urge to eat when food is available.
